What's New in the Page Vault Browser

After a year of customer feedback, the Page Vault Browser has been redesigned from the ground up. Here's what you need to know before you get started.

Key Things to Know First

The redesigned browser is now the default. The legacy browser remains fully available through July 15, 2026, after which it will be retired. During the transition, you can choose which version to use each time you launch from the Portal. No functionality has been removed.

A New Left-Side Panel

Tabs, the URL bar, and capture controls have moved from the top of the browser to a single panel on the left side. The result: everything in one place, and more vertical space for the page you're capturing.

A Tabs/Captures toggle at the top of the panel lets you switch between open tabs and captures made in the current session — including a one-click link copy to each capture's Portal location.

Capturing a Page

The capture form now opens inside the side panel instead of over the page. A new capture-type menu consolidates all options in one place, with descriptions and keyboard shortcuts shown inline (e.g., Full page Ctrl+K, Current view only Ctrl+U).

Two capture types are now top-level menu options:

  • Specific scroll box — captures a single scrollable area (previously in advanced settings)
  • Current view only — captures what's on screen without scrolling (previously keyboard-only)

Advanced Settings Updates

  • "Standard width" → "Prevent page resizing" — same default behavior, clearer label
  • Page overlap is now expressed as a percentage by default. It can be switched to exact pixels.
  • New: Captures now load content first — Page Vault automatically scrolls the page before full-page captures to render lazy-loaded content. A Skip loading content first toggle is available in advanced settings for infinite-scroll pages or pre-loaded content.

Site Automations

The standalone "Expand" button has been retired. Automations are now part of the Capture flow itself. Supported platforms: Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

New additions:

  • A toggle to capture embedded videos within posts
  • A page limit setting for Facebook profile captures (replacing the old pixel-based limit)

Batch Capture

Batch capture is now available directly in the browser (in addition to the Portal). The browser version uses your active session cookies — no Chrome extension required, making it ideal for firms with strict security policies. All advanced options and scheduling from the Portal are also available here.

Folder Navigation

The folder picker has been replaced with Miller columns — a column-based view similar to macOS Finder. Folders are now searchable by name and sortable by last updated or alphabetically.

Ending a Session

The "Exit" button has been replaced by End session in the gear menu at the bottom of the side panel. In most cases you won't need it — closing the window is sufficient, and sessions end automatically after 60 minutes of inactivity.
