Troubleshooting X (Twitter) Sign-In Issues in Page Vault
Why you may be unable to log in — and how to continue capturing X content
Overview
If you’re having trouble signing into X (formerly Twitter) inside the Page Vault Browser, you’re not alone. Recent updates to X’s network security prevent users from logging in when using a virtual machine, such as the one Page Vault runs on.
Note: You can still view and capture most public X content — simply paste a direct post or profile URL into the Page Vault Browser to access it without logging in.
Why You Can’t Log In
X made a change to its security settings that blocks logins from virtual environments. Because Page Vault operates in a secure virtual machine, this means direct sign-in is no longer supported for most users.
However, X does allow Google Sign-In for certain users — specifically those with managed Google accounts tied to a custom domain (e.g., you@yourfirm.com).
Available capture routes can be found below:
Option 1: Use a Managed Google Account
If your firm uses Google Workspace for email, you may still be able to sign into X:
-
Open X in the Page Vault Browser.
-
Choose Sign in with Google.
-
Use your firm’s managed Google Workspace account (not a personal @gmail.com).
If your organization allows it, this method should let you access your X account successfully.
Option 2: Use a Page Vault Managed Account
If your firm does not use Google Workspace or cannot create an X account tied to your firm's domain, Page Vault can provide a managed X account for a small fee.
To request one, please reach out to support@page-vault.com
Option 3: Have Page Vault Capture It for You
If you only need to preserve public X content (posts or profiles viewable without logging in), our Support Team can complete the captures on your behalf.

Most captures are delivered within 1 business day.

Larger profiles or complex requests may take longer or require an On Demand quote.
