Why Are The Dates/Times in Captures Different Than My Local Timezone?

Understanding Page Vault’s Use of UTC for Timestamp Consistency

The Page Vault Capture software operates using Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) to ensure consistency and accuracy across all client captures. This means the timestamps you see on your captures may differ from your local time zone.

Why UTC?

All captures are made on Page Vault servers—not your local machine—to ensure the chain of custody is preserved. Since these servers are configured to UTC, the dates and times shown reflect when the content was captured or published, but standardized in the UTC time zone.

Can I Change the Time Zone?

At this time, time zone customization is not available in the software. However, our technical team is evaluating the feasibility of adding this feature in the future. If this is important to your workflow, please let us know at support@page-vault.com.

Need Local Timezone Timestamps?

Our On Demand service can accommodate location-specific proxies, allowing captures to reflect timestamps from a particular timezone. If you have a project where this is critical, contact us at ondemand@page-vault.com or request a quote through our online form and select “special request.”

Using UTC helps maintain capture integrity, but we're always open to feedback as we continue to improve the experience.
