How to Resolve "Select Scrollbox to Capture" error message
Troubleshooting capture issues with scrollable containers and dynamic content
Some webpages are built using scrollable “containers” rather than a traditional single-scroll layout. When this occurs, you may see the “Select Scrollbox to Capture” prompt in the Page Vault Browser. Follow these steps to resolve the error and complete a successful capture:
1. Refresh the Page First
After loading the URL in the Page Vault Browser, refresh the page before making any capture setting changes. This ensures the correct structure of the webpage is recognized by the tool.
2. Open Advanced Settings
Click the blue Capture button, then expand the Advanced Settings panel.
3. Select the Correct Container
Under Select Scroll Box to Capture, use the “Select a Container” drop-down.
In most cases, selecting the last container in the list will allow you to capture the entire scrollable area of the webpage.
4. Adjust Capture Settings for Better Results
For the most accurate capture, we recommend adjusting the following settings:
-
PDF Page Overlap: Helps prevent missing content between pages.
-
Delay Between Screenshots: Allows time for dynamic elements to load before each screenshot is taken.
Tip: Example settings may vary by webpage. Start with a short delay (e.g., 1000ms) and a small overlap (e.g., 50px), then adjust as needed.
5. (Optional) Use Scroll Function Before Capture
If the page contains pop-ups that appear while scrolling, use the Scroll function before capturing. This allows such elements to load and then be omitted from the final capture.
Following these steps will resolve the "Select Scrollbox to Capture" error and help ensure your webpage is captured completely and accurately. If issues persist, reach out to our support team for further assistance.
