How to Capture X/Twitter Posts and Replies
Capture an entire profile’s Posts or Replies, or a single post with replies
There are two main sections of an X (Twitter) user’s profile you may need to capture, depending on your use case:
-
Posts: Displays original posts and reposts by the user. It does not include replies to their own posts, replies to other users’ posts, or posts that begin with an @-tag.
-
Replies: Displays all of the user’s posts plus their replies to their own posts and to other users. It does not include the posts they are replying to.
Many clients find that capturing Replies provides a more complete record than just Posts.
Note: X only shows the last 3,200 posts on a profile tab. To capture more than 3,200, use X’s Advanced Search (see related article on capturing a specific timeframe).
To capture all Posts or Replies
-
Navigate to the X profile and select either the Posts or Replies tab.
-
Once the page loads, click Scroll in the Page Vault menu bar to load all available posts. (X limits the feed to the most recent 3,200 posts.)
-
When the scroll is complete, click Capture and save the results to your selected folder in the Portal.
To capture a single Post and its replies
-
Click on the post you want to capture to open it on its own page.
-
Once the page loads, click Scroll in the Page Vault menu bar.
-
If there are many replies, X may stop auto-loading. Manually click Show more replies, then click Scroll again. Repeat until you reach the end of the thread.
-
When the scroll is complete, click Capture and save the results to your selected folder in the Portal.
