How to Capture Facebook Stories
Step-by-step guide for capturing Facebook Stories using Page Vault
Facebook Stories appear at the top of profiles and can include multiple segments. This guide will walk you through capturing one or multiple Facebook Stories by extracting their source URLs and running a batch capture in Page Vault.
Steps to Capture a Facebook Story
1. Open the Story

Navigate to the Facebook profile containing the story.

Click on the story to open it.
2. Pause the Story

In the top right corner of the story, click the pause button.

This freezes the story on the screen so you can work without it advancing automatically.
3. Inspect the Story Element

Right-click on the blank black space next to the story.

From the dropdown menu, select Inspect.

The developer tools window will open.
4. Select the Story Highlight

In the top left of the Inspect panel, click the Select an element tool (cursor icon).

Hover over the story until the entire highlight is outlined in blue.

Click once to select it.
5. Copy the Source URL

In the code panel, look for the
src
attribute associated with the highlighted story. -
Double-click the URL next to
src
. -
Copy this full source URL.
6. Set Up a Batch Capture in Page Vault Portal

Go to your Page Vault Portal.

Open the Batch Tool from the upper-right corner.

Click on the Documents button.

Paste the copied URL into the documents list.
7. Name and Start the Job

Select the folder where you want the capture saved.

Enter a job name (e.g., “Story Capture”).

Click Start Document Batch Capture.
8. Capture Multiple Story Segments (if applicable)

Some Facebook Stories contain multiple segments (visible as small sections at the top of the story).

Repeat Steps 3–5 for each segment to extract additional source URLs.

Paste all URLs into the documents list in your batch job.

Start the batch to capture all segments at once.
