How to Capture Different Scrollable Containers of A Website

Tips for Capturing Webpages with Scrollable Containers in the Page Vault Browser

Webpages may be built with nested “containers” rather than a standard scrollable layout. These containers can isolate sections of the page, making them behave differently from the rest of the site.

Step 1: Check for Scrollable Containers

  1. Open the Capture dialog box.

  2. Expand the Advanced Options at the bottom.

  3. Check the box for Select Scroll Box to Capture.

  4. If a container is available, click on it. The area may highlight to confirm selection.

If the content you need becomes highlighted, the container can be scrolled and captured.

Depending on the size of the scrollbox, you may need to increase the PDF overlap to ensure no content is missed during the capture.

When No Container Is Detected

If:

  • No containers appear in the selection list, or

  • The desired area doesn't correspond to any available container,

Then the issue is not related to scroll boxes. This is common on pages with complex layouts, built-in scroll boxes, or dynamic content (e.g., moving images). If this is the case, we recommend the following:

Use Single-Screen Captures

  1. Manually scroll to the section you want to capture.

  2. Select Single-Screen in the Capture Type settings, or press Ctrl+U as a shortcut.

  3. Repeat for each screen of content needed.

After capturing all segments, merge them into a single PDF during export for a cleaner, more organized result. This method ensures you can still capture all necessary information, even when standard scrolling isn’t an option.
