How to Merge Captures in a Specific Order

Use capture naming to control the order of merged PDFs

When exporting multiple captures from the Page Vault Portal, you have the option to combine them into a single merged PDF. By default, captures merge in order from oldest to newest. If you want to control the sequence, follow these steps:

  1. Name your captures in the order you want.

    • Click the edit icon next to the capture name in your Portal

    • Add numbers at the beginning of each capture name (e.g., 001_Capture, 002_Capture, 003_Capture).

    • Use leading zeros if you expect more than 10 or 100 captures (e.g., 001 instead of 1) so your order stays correct.

  1. Select your captures.

    • To export all captures in a folder: click Export Folder.

    • To export only certain captures: check the boxes next to them and click Export Selected Items.

  1. Choose your export format.

    • Select Merged PDF.

    • In the merge settings, select Sort by Capture Name to ensure the order follows your numbering.

Note: If the resulting merged PDF is larger than 1.5GB, it will automatically be split into smaller files and delivered as a ZIP. This limit helps ensure your PDF viewer can open the files without crashing.

  1. Customize your output (optional).

    • You can choose to remove cover pages from the final merged PDF if desired.

Your merged PDF will be emailed to you in the order you set with your capture names.
