How to Continue a Facebook Profile Capture

What to do if your capture stops before reaching the beginning of the profile

💡 These steps follow the redesigned Page Vault Browser. Legacy screens may look a little different, but the workflow is the same! (The legacy browser retires July 15, 2026.)

If your Standard capture does not reach the start of a Facebook profile, it is likely hitting Facebook’s content loading limit. You can continue capturing from where it stopped by using one of the following methods.

Method 1: Using Standard Capture with Date Filters

  1. Check your last capture

    • In your Portal, note the date of the last post that was successfully captured.

  2. Filter the profile by date

    • On the Facebook profile, click the Filters option.

    • Enter the same date or the next day to resume capturing.

    • If the last date contained multiple posts, select that same date to ensure none are missed.

  3. Continue capturing

    • The profile will now display all remaining posts from that point forward.

    • Select the Facebook capture type from the menu and restart the capture.

Method 2: Using a Facebook Scrape and Bulk Capture

The scraping tool is currently only compatible with fully public Facebook profiles. If capturing a private or semi-private profile, please use method 1 or reach out to support@page-vault.com.

  1. Obtain a scrape

    • Navigate to the Social Media job type in the Page Vault Batch tool.

    • Select "Metadata-Only Scrape"

    • Enter the profile URL and select "Scrape Profile."

  2. Receive the scrape file

    • A CSV file of all post URLs will be available in your Batch Job History.

  3. Bulk capture the post URLs
